Company History
Moynihan Lumber first opened its door in North Reading on October 1, 1959, although the Moynihan Family has been involved in the lumber business dating back to the earliest part of the century. The late uncle of the current owners actually delivered lumber via horse and team in the early 1920's.
In 1959, Moynihan North Reading Lumber occupied three wooden buildings on four acres on a dirt road just off Chestnut Street. In less than four decades the company has grown to occupy eight buildings and encompasses almost 13-acres.
In August of 1986, the company expanded into Beverly and occupies a four acre site in the downtown area at the corner of Bridge and River Street-a spot that's been home to a lumberyard for over 120 years.
In November of 1995, the company expanded again into New Hampshire and occupies a 20-acre site in Plaistow. This site is utilized not only as a full service lumberyard but also allows for additional storage of lumber and building materials for all three yards. |
